GOOD MUSLIM. BAD MUSLIM. GOOD MUSLIM. BAD MUSLIM.
As a storytelling project, this zine was produced through sourcing submissions, and having a lot of difficult conversations, not only with others but with myself, and finding the ground to be honest about my feelings in order to ask others to share. Throughout the process I was constantly rotating through Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign, paired with countless hours searching for typefaces that elevated my vision. Always fascinated by the way ink interacts with different substrates, led me to sifting through countless papers and tackling on the task of arranging the paper to work in harmony with each other and the design itself.
"I think the main reason so many young Muslims don't identify with religion as a whole is because of these norms placed on us, not by the religion itself, but the people dictating the conversations. I can't help but imagine the difference in our lives if we were told what we're going through is valid and a part of being humanwe did nothing wrong. That there is help out there and we aren't bad people, just people."
